April 24, 2020 It’s Day 5 of National Volunteer Week! CHI is very grateful to have such amazing people who have traveled to Haiti, often more than once, for a medical or surgical clinic. Each day this week we will feature one of our dedicated volunteers. John is an anesthesiologist based in Colorado who has helped CHI tremendously for our surgical clinics in Haiti. CHI usually has two surgical trips a year in January and March and anesthesiologists are very important and sometimes in short supply. If we don’t have anesthesia and anesthesiologists, we cannot hold a surgical clinic! Although both March surgical trips from last year and this year were canceled, John was signed up for both. Despite this, John went the extra mile and jumped through hoops to get all our anesthesia supplies and medications. It is a stressful process and a lot goes on behind the scenes to get these supplies and have them ready to go to Haiti for our clinics. John did an amazing job stepping up to the plate, especially for someone who hasn’t been able to travel to Haiti yet.
Today we honor John for his efforts and help to CHI and we can’t wait for him to be able to travel to Haiti with us soon. We’re so thankful to have him as a continued supporter of our work to provide the highest level of care to the communities we serve!
