Team Leaders

Team Leader Casey Panko began traveling to Haiti in 2010 while working as an emergency room nurse at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She later graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago with her nurse practitioner degree and completed a formal Emergency Nurse Practitioner Residency Program through University of Iowa Hospitals. She was one of the original board members when CHI was founded in 2012. She works closely with the Community Health Worker program and serves on several CHI subcommittees. She currently lives in Fort Collins, CO and works in several emergency departments in Northern Colorado.

Team Leader Chris Buresh is a physician boarded in pediatrics, emergency medicine and has a masters in Public Health. He has been travelling to Haiti since 2003. He co-founded the Community Health Initiative in 2009 to address the needs of rural Haitians that otherwise had no access to care.

He works in the emergency department and pediatric emergency department. He lives in Coralville, Iowa, with his wife Ginny and four children, Eve, Charlie, Tess, and Penelope (PJ).

Team Leader Holly Senn lives in Sartell, Minnesota where she is a pharmacist. She first went to Haiti right after the earthquake and helped to run the CHI field hospital and clinic. Holly has returned to Haiti with CHI over six times. She loves the Haitian people and helping those in need.

Going to Haiti has really helped her add a little perspective to her life and helps her appreciate what she has!

Team Leader Josh White is a Board Certified Emergency Medicine physician working in the White River Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire. He has also completed an MBA in Health Care.  He lives with his wife, Kim and children, Corinne - 5, Broder - 2. He has been traveling to Haiti since 2004. He and Dr. Buresh were frustrated with what they perceived as a failure of other organizations to provide effective aid, and thus they founded the CHI in 2009.

After the earthquake of 2010, Dr. White and Dr. Buresh managed a field hospital for 6 months, but otherwise they have been running medical clinics in rural Haiti ever since. When not working or running back and forth to Haiti, he enjoys playing with his kids, long-distance running, and downhill skiing.

Team Leader Rachel Elbing is a physician assistant (PA-C) practicing in Emergency Medicine in the Twin Cities.  She was first introduced to CHI while doing her Emergency Medicine PA Residency at the University of Iowa and working along side Chris Buresh.  She is now better know as Paul's daughter after introducing her dad to CHI. She is planning on returning to school to obtain her Master's in Public Health at the University of Minnesota.

Team Leader Robin Meetz is a retired Fire Fighter and EMT who has always had a passion for helping people in one form or another. She has traveled to Haiti and served on both medical and surgical teams for CHI.

As a Colorado native, Robin loves adventure and the outdoors, and in her spare time spends as much time outside as possible fly-fishing, camping, hiking and mountain biking, and with grown children Hannah and Shaefer, and partner John. She is also an avid artist and gardener.

Team Leader Sharon Carmody lives in St. Louis Park, MN and is an Emergency Medicine physician. She went to Haiti immediately after the earthquake in January of 2010 with a primarily surgical team based out of St. Paul, MN.

After that Sharon connected with CHI and has been on over 12 trips with CHI. She feels it's a real privilege to be able to come on these trips and to work with the Haitian people and the CHI teams.
